Who is the heck is Topsax? Is it a person.. a saxophone.. a factory.. a brand? Well, it is a mixture of all the above.
Everyone on eBay knows me as “Topsax.” I started selling there in 1999. At first, I started out like everyone else, selling mostly flea market and yardsale stuff. It was always a lot of fun and really a pretty good business. Things changed around 6 years ago. My brother Bert who owns a saxophone pad factory in the United States got me hooked on saxophones.
Long story short, Brian Hu who owns Gulf Manufacturing in Shanghai, China had given my brother some saxophones in exchange for a large order of Precision Pads. Now it was more than a few saxophones, something like 50 pieces. My brother sat on them for a year not knowing what in the heck to do with them. He was always the creative person in the family. I was always the salesman. I took one look of that room full of saxophones and I was in heaven.
The rest is a little bit of Topsax history. After I figured out there is a good market for quality saxophones at outrageously low prices it was time to move to China. I needed to be at the factory where I could control product lines, assembly quality and distribution. I moved here in October of 2005, found a great Chinese wife, a cool little dog, and never looked back. I do get homesick from time to time but until I can get a Visa for my wife I am staying put. The truth be known, I just love it here. The cost of living is cheap, my employees at the factory are fantastic and the business is very successful. The only downside is the Chinese weather sucks about 8 months out of the year. Being from Arizona I still long for the sun and fun.. [smile]

I should mention that Topsax is successful for a couple of very good reasons. 1) We build quality saxophones at factory direct prices. 2) We treat our customers with respect and choose only to deal with them on a “First Class” basis.
